Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.

Psalm 2:8

Based on the call of God he heard in this verse Pioneers founder Ted Fletcher began a mission organization focused on reaching the unreached in 1979 (download the free audio book/ e-book and hear Ted’s story here). As Pioneers Canada prepares to celebrate 25 years in 2019 we want to intensify our Romans 15:20 one ambition, “to preach the gospel, where Christ was not known” so that more will have the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In 2017 and 2018 we celebrated that Our God Reigns through sharing stories of hope such as churches planted amongst the Quechua people in Bolivia and Buddhist youths from the mountain villages of East Asia receiving Christ and studying the Bible together. Your gifts have equipped new teams, encouraged existing teams, and opened doors for Pioneers to seek new opportunities in the least reached regions of the world.

Did you know?

Did you know that there are more than 7,000 unreached people groups around the world that do not yet know Him? That’s more than 40% of the world’s population! Check out this incredible video by The Traveling Team that clearly presents our Spirit-filled calling to “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).

Perhaps you’re asking, “In a world seemingly so connected, how can there still be so many who have never had the opportunity to hear the Good News of the gospel?” Maybe you’re wondering, “What exactly is a people group and how do you know if they are unreached?”

“A people group is the largest group within which the gospel can spread without encountering barriers of understanding or acceptance due to culture, language, geography, etc.” (The Traveling Team)

An unreached people group is “a people group among which there is no indigenous community of believing Christians with adequate numbers and resources to evangelize this people group without outside assistance”. It can also be defined as having fewer than 2% Evangelical Christian and less than 5% professing Christians. (The Joshua Project)

There are entire cultures that have not yet heard! How will they hear if no one tells them? (Romans 10:14) The heart of Pioneers is that all will hear, that all will know.

We understand that 7,000 may seem like an overwhelming number and with this in mind, we have begun what we are calling Ask For the Nations; an interactive focus highlighting 10 of the over 7000 Unreached People Groups in the world. Over the coming months we want to share stories with you from several different people groups that are still unreached and invite you to be part of bringing the gospel message of hope to them through practical, tangible ways.

“Ask me …”

The King of heaven and earth who sits on His throne says “Ask”. As heirs to the throne (Romans 8:17) we are invited to “Ask”, to be part of God’s great love story for His people and the reconciliation of man “from every nation, from all the tribes, and peoples and languages” (Revelation 7:9).

We know your heart is that the whole world will know Him. We want you to journey with us as we Ask For The Nations. We want to share with you our heart for the 3 billion people around the world that have not yet heard the Gospel message, the good news of the hope we have in Jesus Christ, and we hope you will join us in reaching the unreached around the world. He is Lord over all the nations, and we rejoice that His incredible promise to His Son “to make the nations his inheritance” will be fulfilled. (Psalm 2:8)

How incredible is it that we are invited to be a part of the amazing story of God bringing man to Himself! Together let’s Ask For The Nations.

Ask For The Primis* People

The Primis* people already struggle to survive without tools, technology, medicine or an understanding of the modern world. Their land has also been exploited by individuals, governments and companies in search of resources. Their lives are tangled with complex spiritual beliefs, intertwining the physical with the spiritual; animal spirits determine their success in hunting, trees are believed to house these animal spirits and the shamans talk to the animal spirits before extracting the plant product for medicine.

Read the Story

One young couple with Pioneers is committed to serving the Primis* people. They have already begun building their hut in the village and will soon move in. A few years ago they travelled throughout the Amazon basin, meeting with the small community of believers that is dispersed amongst 30 different tribes. The Primis* people were the only tribe where believers in the one true God expressed their desire to learn more about the God of love.

God is opening a strategic door. Not only will the Primis* people be nourished and grow but, Lord willing, they will develop into a missionary church that is ready, willing and able to take the Gospel to their many neighbours who are in great need. This specific tribe is one of very few in region who has the freedom within the local culture to interact with almost all the other tribes in the area. This is why the need to go and disciple this small group of Primis* believers is so important.

We are on the cusp of something momentous! It seems God has orchestrated an incredible plan and we are in a position to walk with Him through this open door.

*This people group name is a pseudonym to keep our teams and followers of Jesus safe.

We invite you to walk through this open door with us:

Pray

Jesus is the Lord of the harvest and He is the power of all our work.

1. For the Primis* people, that God would soften their hearts to the gospel message so that they are ready to receive it.

2. For the Primis* Christians as the take the life transforming Gospel to their neighbours.

3. For the young couple serving with Pioneers who has committed to living among the Primis* people so that they can share the love of Jesus through relationship.

4. For this couple as they learn the heart language and culture of the people.

5. That God will bring more team members to serve alongside this couple.

Go

God is calling. The Primis* people, and others like them, need Jesus and the answer is to obey the call of God and GO, short-or-long-term to the people and ministry He is laying on your heart. We are here to help you make it, step-by-step!

Give

Your financial partnership will enable us to engage and prepare new team members to GO to the Primis and other unreached people groups, to care for those already on the field as they face great challenges and create communication materials that tell the stories of unreached peoples like the Primis*.
