God is transforming lives in the hills of the Bolivian mountains. For decades, missionaries have served in some of these areas, praying for connections and openness with the Quechua people. Now, after years of resistance, there is the beginning of a welcoming.
In some communities, you will find believers cherishing a curious thing: a small red box that speaks words of truth. Sometimes individually, sometimes gathered around in groups, you will see them listening intently.
They are little red radios. Each one is preloaded with the entire Bible in Quechua, the language of the people, and is preset to Mosoj Chaski, a radio station that produces Christian programs for those living in the Andes. The radios are an important connection to the world outside for these hard-to-reach villages. And they help carry the most precious news of all, the Gospel.
For the past several years, Pioneers has been sending teams to deliver these Bible-radios; working with our missionaries on the ground, as well as local believers. Check out this video about one of these teams, their journey into the mountains, and the people who received the Bible-radios. In fact, we have delivered over 50,000 to 1,700 villages.
These little devices are serving to open doors for the Gospel in ways that are truly answers to prayer. To date, they have aided in the planting of nine new churches! At last, we are seeing the first fruits of the Gospel taking root among the Quechua people.
But this is just the beginning. More Bible-radios are needed. We are continually taking requests from more communities and individuals who want one of their own. Is the Lord asking you to take part? Imagine, your gift of $17 can place a Bible-radio in the hands of a seeker, or a new believer. A gift of $170 would supply 10 radios. It actually costs more than $17 to make a radio, but our partnering ministry, Galcom International (www.galcom.org), is graciously supplying these Gospel-bearing devices at half the production cost.
