Reaching the U people in Central Asia

Over 400,000 U people have settled in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. There is a large influx of fundamentalist Islamic teaching in this region. Men, women and young people are searching for truth and purpose.
Your gift helps to:
- Open the door to encounter the Word online in a way that engages their interest
- Begin a conversation with a U believer
- Interact in meaningful ways to understand God’s Word
- Invite them to a Bible Study and engage with believers face-to-face
Our goal is to raise $40,000 to reach the U people in new ways, starting with messages that catch their interest on social media. Our purpose is to meet personally with people searching for truth. Our prayer is to introduce them to Jesus and a community of believers in their neighbourhood.
Our team in Central Asia is asking for:
- Prayer support from Canadians with a passion to intercede for U men and women lost without Jesus.
- Funding for our design and content development team.
- Funding to meet the budget of paid advertising on social media.
Pray that God would grow our connection with local U believers. By connecting with local churches and Bible Studies we increase our network of believers to help disciple U people searching for God.
About the U People
All attempts at religious conversion are illegal in this region. The U people in this region are Muslim. Even the younger generation, while not always devout, strongly adheres to their faith identity.
The people are relational. But they are cautious of building relationships with people outside their family and cultural identity. Yet, they are time-rich and cash-poor which gives us the opportunity to take the time to build meaningful relationships.
Every day as we walk around our city, we see people with their noses buried deep in their smart phone. Their obsession with digital content informs their lives, relationships and worldviews.
We want our friends and neighbours to encounter the Word of God in as many ways as possible: over a cup of tea or online as they scroll through social media.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
