The Need

Reaching the Unreached

At Pioneers, our mission focuses on people who have little or no access to the gospel.

  • Over one in three people globally have not heard the name of Jesus.
  • Our goal is to make disciples and plant churches where the gospel is still unknown.

We aim to bring the light of Christ to communities that are often overlooked by traditional ministry efforts.

How We Serve

We employ innovative, culturally relevant approaches to share the Gospel:

  • Immersion – Our teams live among unreached people groups, learning languages and customs to effectively communicate God’s message.
  • Diverse skills – From business and education to healthcare and the arts, our teams use their gifts to build relationships and lead people to Christ.
  • Church partnerships – We work closely with local churches to support new believers and establish lasting communities of faith.

Our Origin Story

Pioneers Canada was born out of a shared vision to reach the unreached.

  • 1979 – Ted and Peggy Fletcher founded the original initiative in the U.S., focused on reaching the unreached.
  • 1982 – Charlie and Judy Wight established World Outreach Fellowship in Ontario, Canada, sharing the same mission.
  • 1994 – The two efforts merged to form Pioneers Canada, significantly expanding the ability to reach unreached peoples worldwide.
  • 2010 – Pioneers and Arab World Ministries amalgamated to strengthen the work in the Middle East and North Africa.

These mergers allowed the organization to combine vision, experience, and resources to mobilize more workers, plant churches, and support local communities globally.

Looking Ahead

Since those early milestones, Pioneers Canada has continued to grow in both reach and vision. Today our teams serve on six continents, engaging hundreds of people groups with the good news of Jesus. We’re investing in next-generation missionaries, expanding creative access strategies, and deepening partnerships with local churches worldwide.

Our prayer is bold: that every person would have the opportunity to hear and respond to the gospel. As we look to the years ahead, we remain committed to innovation, collaboration, and the unchanging call to make disciples of all nations.
