Hold the Rope
William Carey famously said to his dear friend Andrew Fuller, "I will go down into the pit, if you will hold the ropes". Fuller's unwavering reply was, "Whilst we lived, we should never let go the rope."
At Pioneers, we believe the call to make disciples of all nations is a call to the entire body of Christ, not just the few individuals who follow the Lord into cross-cultural missions. So what then is the task for those who don't go? As Paul wrote in Romans 10, "And how can anyone hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?" Sending is a partnership that the Lord calls His church into: He calls out the individuals who should go, and the church actively works to send and support them. So how do we do this?
